Average Daily Balance & Savings Accounts Explained:
Accompanying the
beginning
balance, and the
ending
balance, that of
the
average daily relates to a deposit account where the
total daily deposit balances for a given monthly period are divided
by the number days in the period. Since statements typically run with
begining and ending balances that occur during ongoing
month's,
and not by
calendar-month start and end dates, the number
of days during statement
periods
do seem to vary and may not correspond with the number
of
days in the month when the statement is received.
Taking the uncollected amounts into account, the
average
collected balance is yet more specific in regards to account activity.
While the
average daily float describes items in collection.
